#Beerandenglish was our first event held to open the acedemic year 2015-2016 and to launch The Hub Lecce's alternative communicative and fun approach to language teaching. This informal English language networking event was organised to bring together local businesses in the field of social innovation.
Participants were divided into three different groups, each supported by a qualified mother tongue langauge teacher, who supported participants in a networking English conversation. This event was held in partnership with Zemove and L'Aura Beer.
Reduce, reuse, recycle was the theme for our event in partnership with Il formicaio, L'aura Birra and Zemove. The event entirely in English supported partcipants in the the use of hypothetical future tenses to offer up possible solutions to environmental problems.
Small groups were formed, based on English level of English and our fun and creative teachers held level appropriate conversations that ranged from what we recycle and rainforest destruction to tools used to measure our carbon footprint.
Ethical homemade catering was provided by The Hub and Il Formicaio, with vegan, organic locally grown produce used. Signle use plastic was avoided.
#AperiEnglish is based on some of the social learning concepts of the original Hub Underground events held in 2011. In partneship with Kamal Fanibanda from Salento Yoga, all of our sudents are given the opportunity to practise their informal and communicative English in real life settings.

#LetsTalk - Food Waste
27 November 2015
To mark European Week for Waste Reduction 2015, The Hub and Il Formicaio organised #Let'talk - Food Waste. Tristam Stewart's Ted Talk was shown at Il Formicaio, a local environmental education project, prior to a conversation based on the small changes we can make as a community to reduce food waste. Following the event some participants have started collecting food, that would be otherwise thrown away by local bars and restaurants, for local homeless charities or taking it directly to the people sleeping rough near the railway station. For more information about how you can help, get in touch.
#Wineandenglish took The Hub Lecce home to Mamma Elvira in the historic centre, to focus on the use of the present perfect simple "Have you ever...?" as a fun way to stimulate conversation and learn to share past life experiences with new friends. The event, designed for all interested in improving their English, was supported by a The Hub team of mother tongue English language teachers. The Hub Lecce - International Language Solutions - organized the event at Mamma Elvira, in the middle of the historic center of Lecce..
Cook, Eat, Speak
4 November 2014
Cook, Eat, Speak is the brainchild of Australian Chef Damian Chiliberti. A lesson with Damian does exactly what it says on the tin.
Our Let's Talk conversation group joined Damin in Gianna's Cooking Expereince kitchen to learn some kichen, cooking and dining English as well as the secrets to making Yorkshire puddings rise, in a wonderful evening tasting traditional English pub grub, washed down with some of Salentos finest red.
